It's only been a few days since I blogged about Kent.......of course, about Kent! but I am feeling that antsy, awkward, uncomfortable feeling that says time to blog again and try to sort out my thoughts that way......it truly helps me HEAPS to get it out onscreen where I can ramble until I find out what's going on inside me. Does blogging work that way for you????
.
The weather here is typical for our Winters, the rain is colder.......the temperatures have been in the high 40s or low 50s, so it's not uncomfortable, and I'm thankful it's not like last Winter when we had 20degree days with zero humidity......just HOW do you get zero humidity right on top of the Great Mother Ocean????? I'm not certain, I only know I had to use my asthma inhaler to get through it.......I seem to need the humidity to breathe, no more trips to Arizona or southern California, I just can't breathe there.
.
It's been on CNN that at least one house slid off the hill it was built on in Newport.....that's 25 miles north of where I live, and it's where I go for hula, prescriptions, food, etc. They didn't say WHERE the house was that slid down the hill, but I know there will probably be more houses sliding off their hills because they give building permits where they really oughtn't......is that a word??? A few years ago 2 houses slid down a hill in Waldport, it happened in the middle of the night, and no one was hurt, the whole family actually got out safely, and thanks to the kindness of whatever local people that were awake when it happened, they saved some of their precious belongings.......later we found out the lot that slid had what they call "French" drains, which means it takes the water off your property and dumps it on your neighbor's. At any rate, the permitting people let people buld on sand dunes here and the sand comes in the electrical outlets, etc. They only do it for the money they get from all the permits necessary to build a house, and no one seems to give a fig about what's going to happen to that house in the future. Bayshore development (built on sand dunes) has to have a small bulldozer with a scoop take the sand off the roads in the area.......if they don't do it every day there is no driving on those streets, they're full of sand.
.
Do you have areas like this where no one should build but they do anyway? Sometimes I think it's nonsense thoght up by local cronies who just want more money in their local budget and don't care WHAT happens to the people in the houses.
.
Last night Kent called (you KNEW this was coming) and we talked for a couple of hours......it was lovely to just talk as long as we wanted without having to worry about a long distance bill or anything.......I wonder if his mother's phone bill shows WHO they are calling like my cell bill used to.......what will she think if/when she notices he is calling one number over and over?! They don't get along particularly well, as most families, they have their usual disagreements that they've BEEN disagreeing about for years. I know he is lonely and sort of at a loss without his normal routine of going to regular customers' yards and keeping them beautiful. I even paid him to do my garden one Spring, he did one hell of a job. That man works HARD!!! He cleared up my garden (all by hand) and then went on to clear out my carport and weeded the neighbor's little flower patch "because I have to look at it". I thought that was really sweet of him......and he coiled the unruly hose up that we all use and no one bothers to put back properly (including myself, I really need to TRY harder to be a good neighbor). Altogether, he spent about 3-4 hours in my yard, and then he had a truck bed full of old vines, weeds, etc. that he had to pay to dump. He has one HELLUVA work ethic.....when he works, he works. He doesn't exercise to built muscles, he just uses his body for his work, and he gets all the muscles he needs. The more I know about him, the more I LIKE the kind of person he is.

Getting to hula is being VERY hard lately......it's hard to get my butt out the door when it's late afternoon and already getting dark. When I drive home after hula sometimes the moon is out and it's a full moon right now so if the clouds play fair I'll get to see the moon all te way home......I DO love that!!! And I love seeing my kumu hula and my hula sisters, I miss them terribly when I miss hula for a few weeks.......my kumu hula went to Alaska for the holidays because she had another grandbaby being born......so there were a few weeks I didn't have to worry about booting myself out the door after dark.....it's being REALLY hard to get back in the rhythm again. I need to stop whining and JUST DO IT!!!
.
Sorry if this blog is boring, it's what's going on with me lately, and I sincerely hope at least some of you can relate.
.
Thank you for listening yet again, People. Talk to me.
Witchfire wrote 485 Days Ago (positive) 1yeah, contractors don't care, it's all about money. And you know they're racking it up on the flood plains. And Yes, I love to blog for feedback, or even journaling to get it out of me, then reflect on it later. One of those things that I stress for troubled people to do. happy Cold Moon! Blessings! ~)O(~0 pointsJynxie wrote 485 Days Ago (positive) 1We have a lot of clay here and this city is in a small valley so a lot is on hills. many of the homes uphill have issues with cracked foundations, slanting homes, doors don't open haha! Just recently many of these homes have been getting new basements and filling that land around the house with better suited material. The one Highschool is literally sliding down the hill - huge cracks in some rooms! I think the new one gets built this year :D oh I'm so glad you got to talk with Kent! he does sound like a very special person, Dancing, I'm really so glad he has decided to be a part of your life and realizes how very special you are too! I'm still plugging away at the belly dancing, but I admit I've been dragging my arse around all winter and need to get back into it! We had a break and now I need to get serious. Oh but I made friends with one of the women through this, and she is fantastic! Not only a beautiful dancer but a beautiful person inside and out. So lets both get in gear!! Does kent ever watch you Hula? What does he think of it? Blessings and hugs!0 pointsAzalea_Rowan wrote 485 Days Ago (positive) 1Blogging helps me clear my head--put things in better perspective too. Aww! That's so sweet of Kent to spruce up your yard. I seem to breathe better in drier air, but then again that could just be a byproduct of growing up in SJV since it's pretty deserty there. I like a man with a good work ethic, there's something inherently sexy about watching somebody bust their butt for you. Have you thought about burning an citrus scented candle or just eating some citrus? I find that citrus helps me wake up a lil more, orange is my favorite for that. I used to have an energizing lotion that contained orange, hibiscus, lime and stinging nettle. It's a shame I can't find more of it. Mint is also refreshing and uplifting. I love being out under the full moon, it's especially beautiful with lightly falling snow. Imbolc is right around the corner, so it's just a matter of time before the Sun comes back warmer and then we'll both be itching to get out that door! It's only a matter of time, just bear with it and try to energize yourself to get thru your days.0 pointsMoire wrote 485 Days Ago (positive) 1We don't have people building in places they shouldn't, but we do have the issue in my area of entire mountains being cleared out to make room for more upscale subdivisions. Where there used to be gorgeous views of trees, some lovely clearings, and streams we now have cookie-cutter houses. It's disgusting! Over 3/4 of the houses in these places are empty - have been for years - because of the crappy economy. People can't afford to retire here any longer, but the land and homes are still priced like it's 2005 - land here comes at a premium with $50,000 for a wooded half-acre not being unheard of. I've always wanted to visit Oregon, and, when I read your blogs, I want to visit even more. I'm glad things are going well with you and Kent, and I hope things continue to be loving and positive between you. Yes, you need to kick your rear and go to hula! I can tell how much you love it so it's very worth the effort - another payoff is the view of the moon right now! Love you, sweetie!!0 points
