Ok, so today I have a great story to tell, and by great I mean that my father is an incoherent bigot with a really big ego and a really small brain.
So we were watching Paranormal Activity 3 because my entire family are horror fans and it got to the part where
*Warning- Spoiler Alert. If you have not seen the movie, I am about to give away a HUGELY important part of the movie.*
the grandmother was in the demon worshipping cult. My father starts staring at me. Whenever the movie is over in the interim between the movie and dinner that night, my father looks at me again and this is what happened...
Me- "Why are you staring at me?"
Dad- "Trying to make sure you don't start breaking my spine with your eyes."
Me- "What are you talking about, old man?"
Dad- "Well, you saw what that Satanist woman did to that guy"
Me- "That would be a valid argument were I Satanist."
Dad- "Well, you kinda are."
Me- "What did you smoke this morning?"
Dad- "Well you do spells"
Me- "And...?"
Dad- "...And so do Satanists, thus you are a Satanist."
Don't you just love people like that.

I knew the day I started calling myself Wiccan that I was burning bridges with many of my Christian friends. I didn't expect it to be my family but you kinda just get used to it.
I have to say the only reason I am so open about my religion is that I wanted to prove people are different now and that we could be the slightly less Hidden Children but even though I have not been hanged or set ablaze, I have concluded that people are no different than they were in 14th century Europe- 17th century New England. They still set people ablaze, just in small town politics.0 points -

What DOES surprise me a little, is that you are OUT to your family. Good for you!!! As for the satanist argument I could just as easily say only satanists believe satanic spells can hurt you in this day and age; he believes YOU may hurt him any day with a satanic spell; therefore HE is a satanist. BTW I don't believe any of this BS!!! And again, Welcome to Witchbook!!!1 point
