Wow! I bet that got your attention!

Hatred :

ha·tred

[hey-trid]
noun
feeling of one who hates; intense dislike or extreme aversion or hostility.
Very intense, yet this emotion is shared by most of the human race, in one aspect or another. Those humans who hate things they don't understand, things or people that are different than themselves.
I hear the word hate used very day, from all aspects of life. I'm amazed to hear lawyers, doctors, mailmen, garbage men, bank tellers, store clerks... the list is endless, and that saddens me greatly.
This great country was founded on certain inalienable rights. I understand that freedom of expression is one of those rights. What I don't understand is does it give us (the human race) the right to be cruel, unfeeling creatures.
Its Christmas, Yule, or Hanukkah.  It is the time of year for brotherly love, peace and goodwill. We are a nation at war. Our people commit hate crimes against each other daily. Where is the goodwill in that?
There are children starving everyday in this country, going to bed hungry, only to wake up hungry.  Somewhere in this country every 5.5 seconds a women is beaten.  Somewhere a family is losing their home because the owner's jobs closed. There are people living on the streets in our great cities.
And still the human race finds time to HATE!  If one person said something nice to another person, instead of in a derogatory manner the thoughtful gesture may just be the single one gesture that makes a life changing event happen for that single person.  Now let's use our imagination and times this simple act of kindness by each human being that inhabits this green earth.
"Holy Wow Batman," what a wonderful world this would be.
I know, I know I am a dreamer.  Seriously, as Pagans and as Christians, isn't it our responsibility to spread goodness?  In a Christian prayer there is a line, "and surely goodness and mercy shall follow you".  Jesus Christ promises this. Our Goddess, the Mother of all Pagans, promises us rebirth and the Summerlands.  In return, we care for and respect the world she created for us.
The Witch's Council established goals. A short version of one of these goals is to weigh your words, meaning be careful what you say and how you say it. Words are not meant to hurt or be cruel. A line from my favorite poem reads "Words are the cruelest weapon.  What takes seconds to voice, may take years to erase."  We are responsible for what we do no matter how we feel, that either you control your attitude or it controls you.
I believe that I need to forgive those that strike out against this church with hatred, misunderstanding and fear.  I also believe that I need to forgive myself for not having the foresight to see that even a church, regardless of its path, will be attacked for being different.
What I can't forgive is a human race that allows the cruelty to continue in our own backyards.
Here at PCRS, we will strive to do our best to aide those we can and to point those we cant aide in a direction where they can get the help they seek. We will accept all religions as the correct one for the person practicing them, support our troops with prayers and letters and to also aide our community, wherever we may be needed.
Regardless of what hatred comes our way we know that we can make a difference.  Even if its in one single heart of one single person.
So to those that hate, we understand its how you're feeling... but understand this, it will not stop us from being here or being in your town.  Should you ever need aide, and that aide is within our ability, EVEN YOU will be able to seek the Pagan Church of the Rising Sun.  For here you will be respected and loved, regardless of your race, creed, color, sexual orientation or your religious path.
SO MOTE IT BE, Amen.
Rev.Charlene Green-Marino
this posted on our church's website. Unknow person made a verbal attack against members of the church. We consider filing charge, as there are laws that say this is illegal. However We decide that, this is the way we want to get know. We at PCRS would rather it be through the good things we can do to aide the community and individuals, whether they be pagan or christain. But it does warrant being mentioned so that others are aware that it does and more than likely will happen again. Until the time it becomes a danger we have voted to take no action. We want everyone to know we will not let this stop us from helping anyone that we can be of aide to.Rev.Charlene Marino

We are doing as much as we can everywhere we can. We at PCRS, want only good to come from our church. I am sure it wasnt the only one we will get along this path. But this is how each will be dealt with. We would like only good publicity. Hopefully the Goddess and her Consort will see that, and bless us with good tidings. thank you for your post.

To respond to the verbal attack would do two things. It would let the person know they have made progress in their attempt to spread discord and discontent, AND it would make the church seem very reactive too soon. I think you are all right in just leaving things be. If the public sees you out and about wearing t-shirts for instance that say the name of your church and you guys are planting trees or picking up trash or helping at a soup kitchen....word will slowly get around that you are doing good things, not bad. You have to make yourselves visible to the community. It has to be frequent. And if you are already doing it, then KEEP doing it. Love and light, S. /l\
