****************************THIS IS A RE-POSTING OF AN OLDER BLOG, IT'S STILL TRUE TODAY AND i HOPE YOU FIND SOMETHING IN IT TO RELATE TO.  THOSE WHO COMMENTED, SORRY, I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DELETE OLD COMMENTS SO THEY ARE THERE WITH THE BLOG, FORGIVE ME IF YOUR ATTITUDES HAVE CHANGED****************************************************************************************

Ok, the coffee pot explodes when you try to make your morning cup, you have a flat tire on your way to work, and that co-worker is really an idiot some days!

.

What kind of day are YOU going to have?  What, you say it's already ruined?  There's no hope of a good day?  Have you just given yourself permission to have a lousy day???

.

Clean up the coffee and use it as an excuse to stop by that espresso stand and get some GOOD caffiene.  Call AAA to fix your tire, while you read that book you so cleverly keep handy for boring moments.  That co-worker is probably an idiot all week long, are you pleasant to them?  Did you know their favorite aunt just died?  No, you probably didn't.

.

My point is, take responsibility for the quality of your day.  Take 5, hell, take 10 minutes, to chant to the Goddess and ask her for a better afternoon than you've had a morning.  Get your head straight, because I'm telling you, it's up to YOU what kind of day you're going to have.

.

My honey left without saying goodbye or letting me know he was leaving.  It's raining on the beautiful Oregon coast, my cat has allergies and I have a toothache.  Ok, just needed to lay the groundwork.

.

I am all set up to have a LOUSY day or weekend, or maybe a month or so of sulking.  I CANNOT WASTE MY TIME this way!!!  I REFUSE to let it get to me.  I am a strong, happy witch with SO much going for me I'm damned if I'm going to let it bother me.....no, I'm not an idiot, I know there are circumstances beyond our control that could ruin a person's day, or month.  And, I believe it is my personal responsibility to have as good a day as I can carve out of this 24 hours.

.

Feel free to disagree with me, I'm just saying it's my responsibility to take charge of my attitude and rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic while there's still time.  None of us know how long we have in this world, and wouldn't it be a downright shame to spend your last 10 minutes bitching?  Or miserable?  The Goddess doesn't ask much of us, and She gives us the strong wills we Witches tend to have.  USE that!  Take that energy you are full of because you're pissed at your lover/husband/boyfriend/best friend and turn it around.  Make it all about you, and decide (because that's what it is, a decision) to have a good day.

Flat tire? Time to break out my spare, jack it up and change it lol. Exploding coffee pot? Duck and cover! Then of course, take a quick trip to the nearest gas station for some trucker coffee lol. I try to look for positive points, it's too easy to get sucked into all the negative. Shitty mornings tend to piss me off for awhile but if the day gets better so does my mood....provided I'm not surrounded by idiots. Nothing else in this world can piss me off faster than a willfully stupid person. When it comes to dealing with disabled people, I have tons and tons of patience and understanding. But to those closeminded idiots who spout off "jesus saves!" or similar diatribe, I have nothing to offer them except evil looks and a mean left hook if they pester me. I have alternatives and I like to see the bright side most of the time. =)

Rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic. I like that. :) True words! The wife sometimes blames her 'bad' day on one thing or another when really , that just isn't true. And I let myself over worry about stupid stuff when I have the power to have a good day. No sense in having a bad one when you can send that evil attitude to the toilet and replace it with a fresh and better one.

I am going to go with some others in that I'm not always great at handling it this way, but I do try. I'm usually pretty okay at days where things we can't control get us. Last time I made it all the way to the end of the day before I felt bad, then I blogged about it (I hope it wasn't downright bitching..more like venting?) and I got better! I'll make it a point to remember these ways and find more to cope with these kinds of days.
