Intended to be a public BOS of sorts, as well as a diary of my progress.
A bunch of sites are down or censored right now to protest SOPA and PIPA. Here are some of the best and most informative links I've found where you can learn more about them and take action against them if you so choose. Some of these sites may not be available until Thursday due to the protest.
EDIT: Ok, I'm kinda late on adding this in (sorry, I work until late!), but AmberSeal says you guys outside of the US can protest using this site: http://americancensorship.org/
SOPA = Stop Online Piracy Act (House of Representatives)
PIPA = Protect IP Act (Senate)

There are some articles out there claiming that SOPA has been shelved and that we have won. It's a hype and the battle isn't over yet. The Senate votes on PIPA this month on the 24th. As I understand it, they are two separate but nearly identical bills.

I hope they flunk and yes our government does suck.2 pointsWitchfire wrote 121 Days Ago (positive) 1I was wondering why some of my favorite sites were shut down last night. Thanks for the post.1 pointPansGirl wrote 121 Days Ago (positive) 1...(cont'd) because petitioning the State department is useless for a simple non-resident. That is meant for individuals and buisiness not primarally or currently residing in the US but either operating there, or having some semblance of citizenship. If I'm a Canadian, who has never been to the US for anything more than shopping over the border, The US Gov't will see me as having Zero say in their legal system, which is only slightly worse than how they see their own citizens. (I have faith in America, just not in the American Government!)3 points
